LGAIE: A New Paradigm of Learning Management System Integrating AI Usage Guidelines

This article introduces the LGAIE project, an innovative platform that integrates AI usage guidelines into learning management systems (LMS). It addresses the core controversy after AI entered the classroom—Is AI a cheating tool or a learning assistant? The core idea of the project is to guide students to use AI responsibly and cultivate AI literacy through built-in AI usage guidelines, rather than simply banning it. LGAIE aims to become a new paradigm of educational technology in the AI era, helping schools establish AI usage norms and reconstruct teaching and learning methods.

Since 2023, large language models like ChatGPT have sparked fierce debates in the education sector: Should AI be completely banned or actively embraced? The use of AI in current educational scenarios shows polarization: The complete ban faction leads students to use AI underground, losing the opportunity to learn to use AI correctly; The laissez-faire faction causes uneven homework quality and frequent academic integrity issues. The LGAIE project was born to solve this chaotic ecosystem, advocating guidance through clear AI usage policies rather than blocking or laissez-faire.

LGAIE is a learning management system integrating AI usage guidelines. Different from traditional LMS (such as Moodle and Canvas), its core feature is the built-in "AI Educational Usage Guidelines". Its functional modules include: 1. Course-specific AI usage policy display (students need to confirm understanding before submitting assignments); 2. AI assistance declaration mechanism when submitting assignments (cultivating transparent academic habits); 3. AI literacy learning module (prompt engineering, output evaluation, ethics, etc.); 4.
